Roughrider Rampage

The Saskatchewan Roughriders handed Edmonton an almost record breaking 55-9 dismantling tonight! They came close to tying the record they set in 1964. Edmonton was a non entity for most of the game. What causes a team to become so unravelled so close to the finals?? Well I'm proud of the ol' Green and White. With so many returning from the injured list we demonstrated the dominance that suggests we may still have a shot at going to "the show". The defence was a titan and our quarterbacks hit their targets impressively. Way to go boys!

Cancer

Our local radio station is having a marathon for breast cancer research over the next two days. I find it to be the hardest two days of radio to listen to. I seem to always have a lump in my throat when listening to the stories of breast cancer survivors. The resilience of these women is incredible! I can't imagine what it must be like to endure such horror and yet, they maintain this incredibly positive outlook on life. Today, something one lady, Fiona, said resonated with me. She spoke to the fact that doctors don't even look for it if you are below a certain age. In her case it was the absolute last thing they checked for before diagnosing her! The medical community needs a paradigm shift. Breast cancer is hitting women as young as 18. Doctors need to "expect the worst". For many of these women time is the enemy; they can't afford to lose precious moments because of medical complacency. It is time doctors created a new standard by being proactive instead of reactive. Life is so precious it shouldn't be pissed away by negligence and apathy.

Academic snobbery

People who play the " I'm an academic snob" game repulse me. Particularly when they suck at it. I mean it is one thing to be quite intelligent and demonstrate it, it is completely another to pose as intellectually superior. What sickens me more is when I see my peers attempt it in front of me. Get a clue! You are in a class with people equally as intelligent(if not more), but somehow you feel the need to put yourself on a pedestal? Furthermore, these people further indite themselves by completely missing the point of why they are there in the first place. Trying to impress the prof with misguided ruminations makes you look like a jackass. Oh well, that's academia.

What was I thinking....

Like a virgin on prom night, he ventured forth into unknown territory. Alright, I admit it. As a blogger I am a neophyte. I have heard of blogging, I know people who do it, hell I've even seen videos of people doing it. I however have not :((Damn, where's an emoticon when you need one?). Well, enough's enough. I will blog dammit even if it kills me. You don't think it will, do you? I mean that would be pretty shitty to die after your first one. I mean, what if I catch something? Worse yet, what if I get caught? Can you imagine the embarassment? Oh, I'm sorry...I didn't know you were blogging in there...ummm...I'll just go..Can you say AWKWARD? Then there's all those people who will say, " Oh, you're one of those people...bloggers." They'll turn their noses up and give you that look, like they don't get you anymore. Well, to hell with those bastards...I'm gonna do it anyway! Yes everybody, I'm blogging and I'm proud of it!!!! If you don't like it, well...DON"T READ IT! Thanks.
